Biniam Ghirmay can surprise us from Milan-San Remo.
Last spring Biniam Girmay took the entire world by storm as he performed a miracle in Belgium. He continued his world class performance In 2022, by becoming the 1st African ever to win a classic as it is known in international Cycling. He won with his club 4 Gent-Wevelgem and thus made cycling history. It was also his breakthrough. Now a year later, Bini is looking to showcase his skills in this spring race in Italy. He prepared himself by working hard during the race between Tirreno-Adriatico. However, Biniam seems to want his best performance this weekend when he rides from Milan-San Remo. This has been one of his main goals of the 2023 season.
His chances are high even though many great cyclists are also preparing for what will be a great race. To attempt to win on this almost completely flat course, he will have to dominate. Strong sprinters like Dylan Groenewegen (BikeExchange Jayco) and Fernando Gaviria (WorldTeam UAE Emirates), as well as Nacer Bouhanni (Arkéa-Samsic) and Mark Cavendish (Astana Qazaqstan Team) will seek to reassure themselves after a complicated start to the season. However, Bini’s team will back him fully allowing him and his club to do well in this very important race. The Intermarché-Wanty has full plans to support Bini with a very fast group of racers, to make way for the Eritrean sprinter. The Italians Niccolò Bonifazio and Francesco Busatto, and the Dutch Mike Teunissen , the Norwegian Sven Erik Bystrøm and the Belgians Aimé de Gendt and Loïc Vliegen who should have the task of guiding Bini in the eventual final sprint should be ready this weekend to get the big prize. We shall wait and see if it is executed well. Good luck to Bini and his club from Eri-Internationalsport.
